Rockhampton Cricket Club was founded as far back as 1872 and despite the ups, the downs, the trials and tribulations that any sporting institution undergoes, the Club is enjoying live in the West of England Premier League – Glos/Wilts Division. This is the highest level of cricket the Club has played at as they go into the fifth Season at this level.
As a GCB Focus Club and a community Cricketing Centre of Excellence, the Club now boasts 3 Saturday League Senior Teams, a Sunday and a Mid-week Team and a flourishing Youth setup. The Club also hosts County standard matches at various levels. The Club is now a recognised GCB Focus Club and enjoys close relationships with Gloucestershire CCC.
In 1999 the New Pavilion at the Boundary Field was opened and the Club officially had a brand spanking new home. The wicket is recognised as one of the better tracks in the region and the setting is so gorgeous that the Club now takes wedding and other events bookings alongside the League Cricket and visits from touring sides.
Down the road the iconic ‘Common’ plays host to 3rd and 4th Team cricket and complete with the eloquent bar, the rhine, the trees in the backdrop and the occasional hold-up in play due to invading cattle or chickens, The Common is the quintessential village cricket setting and there is no better place to be on a sunny afternoon, especially if the bbq is fired up and the Stowford is cold!
The Club is always welcoming new players and any number of social members so give us a call or just pop down for a visit.
