Last Friday’s annual RCC youth presentation evening/get together brought the 2018 season to a successful close. This year a cricketing obstacle course, BBQ, social drinks & the coaches season reviews/trophy awards were enjoyed by over 70/80 parents, family & youth players which was great to see, especially on a chilly evening after a long very hot summer!
Highlights were :-
U9’s :- Continued development and enjoyment at the Common, well supported. Champagne moments were Finley Sherred-Isles and Leo Bloodworth for performances in one game.
U11’s :- SDCA development team superbly winning their B league; the main U11 BYCL team finishing 3rd & 2nd respectively in the 20 over league & 30 over Sunday league & beating Downend in a last ball Cup round thriller. In total 20 games were played in this age group. Huge credit to all players involved & coaches/helpers. Medals for all players.
U13’s – 6 matches, won 2 – great team spirit, development, individual performances & a credit to the club. Andy Rogers thanked all coaches who helped on Fridays & match nights.
U15’s – Enjoyable development season, winning 2 out of 4 matches, good team spirit all season.
U16’s – Played one, lost one. Other matches had to be conceded unfortunately due to injuries & lack of numbers to compete with very strong opponents.
U17’s – Unable to field teams for any matches unfortunately for same reasons as U16’s, but continued commitment to youth development led to progression for many youth players in 4th/3rd/2nd team senior cricket up to 1st team level for Sam Long with debut.
Trophies/awards went to the following :-
Ben Long – U11s BYCL/GYCL
Finley Sherred-Isles & Ollie Young – U11s SDCA
Tom Rogers – U13s
Miles Tomkins – U15s
Tiger Sherred – U11s BYCL/SDCA
